What to Expect

As with all of our offerings, Foundations for Embodied Wellbeing is a trauma-informed, mental health aware and queer affirming program. Your facilitator for this course is trained in trauma-informed practice, mindfulness, somatics, neuroscience and yogic philosophy.

There is no prior knowledge or experience required for this program, however we recognise that there will be a wealth of lived experience, professional experience and wisdom insights amongst the participating group, and we always look forward to being on a learning journey together.

Each session will be gently themed, and intuitively guided by your facilitator. Generally, sessions will feature a combination of guided embodiment practice, education in the form of prompts and discussion, and personal processing through journaling, drawing and/or sharing.

Please note that this program is designed for personal learning, and is not a training. As such, no certificates will be provided at the end of the course.

About Your Facilitator:

Jem (they/he) was born on Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung lands and now resides on Djaara Country, Castlemaine. Jem has a broad experience as both a mindful movement facilitator and an educator. They work across trauma and community informed yoga, somatic movement and meditation. They also have experience in tertiary environmental education and community development.

Currently, their primary focus is exploring: How does a connection to the more than human world (nature) help navigate troubling times? They are passionate about using movement and meditation as a form of storytelling. This helps Jem to cultivate their own narratives of resilience, connection, and belonging. Whether that is within their own bodies, communities and to more-than-human world (nature). Jem is excited to bring together their experience in education and work in the community to explore these themes through programs at Collective Being.
